Circle skirt calculator
Questions
What is the formula for a circle skirt?
For a full circle skirt, the waist radius is your waist measurement divided by 2π (about 6.28). A half circle uses waist ÷ π, and a quarter circle uses 2 × waist ÷ π.
Should I subtract seam allowance?
Yes. Subtract the waist seam allowance from the radius so the waist opening ends up the right size once sewn. The calculator does this for you.
Why does my circle skirt waist stretch?
Part of the waistline is cut on the bias, which stretches. Stay-stitch the waist right after cutting, and let the skirt hang for 24 hours before hemming.
