Questions

How do I substitute a different yarn?

Multiply the pattern's skein count by its yards per skein to get total yardage, then divide by your yarn's yards per skein and round up. Choose a yarn of the same weight that matches the gauge.

How much yarn for a blanket?

It depends heavily on stitch and yarn weight. A worsted-weight throw often takes roughly 1,800–2,800 yards. The swatch method gives a much more reliable estimate for your exact stitch.

Should I buy extra yarn?

Buy at least one extra skein from the same dye lot. Running out and finding a different dye lot can leave a visible stripe.
