Candle wax & fragrance calculator
Questions
How much wax do I need for a candle?
Fill your container with water to where the wax will sit, weigh the water, and multiply by about 0.86 for soy wax. An 8 oz water weight jar holds roughly 6.9 oz of candle blend.
How much fragrance oil per pound of wax?
At a 6% fragrance load, use about 1 oz of fragrance per pound of wax; at 10%, about 1.6 oz. Check your wax's maximum fragrance load.
Is fragrance load a percent of wax or of the total?
Most suppliers mean percent of wax weight, which is the default here. Some calculate it as a percent of the total; switch the setting if your supplier does.
When do I add the fragrance?
Follow your wax supplier's instructions. Soy wax is commonly heated to about 185°F, and fragrance is stirred in for two minutes as it cools.
