How big will my cross stitch be?
Divide the stitch count by the fabric count. A 140-stitch-wide design on 14-count Aida is 10" wide. On 18-count it's about 7.8".
What does stitching over two mean?
On evenweave or linen, each cross covers two threads, so 28-count stitched over two gives 14 stitches per inch, the same size as 14-count Aida.
How much extra fabric should I leave?
At least 2–3" on every side for hooping and framing. For larger frames or mats, leave more.
